Final Reflection
From this team project, I gained a lot of experience with group collaboration. This is a valuable experience as a nursing student because I will be working with other nurses throughout my entire career. Working collaboratively with others is an essential skill in a hospital because you constantly need to be in communication with other health care professionals. I also learned how to better communicate in a group setting. When small conflicts arose, I was able to find a solution with my groupmates. I would want a potential future employer to know that I am informed on the topics of quality improvement and evidenced based practice. I would want a future employer to know that providing the best care possible is of the utmost importance to me as a nurse, and this is evidenced by the influence paper I wrote with my groupmates for this class. It is clear through our research paper that myself and my groupmates are passionate about educating our patients with the most recent knowledge and treating them with the most up to date practices.
As a team member, I discovered about myself that when I am experienced in a field, I am also comfortable being a leader. Writing scientific papers is something I tutor in here at UNE, so I was very comfortable leading this project for my team and answering any questions they may have had. My groupmates also helped support me by talking through each step of the influence paper process. We also read over each part we completed separately and gave suggestions to improve the paper when necessary. I also learned through this project that I am able to complete better papers and work when I am passionate about the subject. Since the topic we chose for our paper was on women’s health, I enjoyed the research we did and imbedding it into the final product.
